A pair of VW Beetle fans riders wearing masks and snorkels won SANDAG's Express Your Commute video contest and its $1,000 grand prize.
The contest was created to encourage residents to make a change to their commute, officials said. The entries were posted on the Internet after Oct. 24 and the public voted for their favorites. Katherine Hijar and Judy Bauerlein took home the big prize.
Other winners included Terri Ensor of San Marcos and her two kids, who earned the $500 first-runner up award with their RideLink Rap. Cyclist Everett Hauser of San Diego won $250, and the final, $100 prize went to Carol Temes of La Mesa for her Keeping Fit with MTS act.
