A man who allegedly sexually assaulted a 5-year-old girl at a Linda Vista home, then returned to the residence three days later, pleaded not guilty Wednesday to charges that include lewd acts on a child.

Alejandro Jose Confesor, 22, is accused of entering a home near Linda Vista Road and Mesa College Drive at around 1:45 a.m. last Thursday and sexually abusing the child.

San Diego police say that video surveillance captured Confesor returning to the home just before 3:30 a.m. Sunday, but he did not enter the home or harm anyone at that time.

He was arrested Sunday night on Linda Vista Road, less than two miles from the home, which neighbors told NBC 7 is military housing.

Confesor was a cook at a restaurant and resided in the same neighborhood where the assault took place, SDPD Lt. Michael Swanson said. He rented a space and lived with multiple roommates.

The next hearing for this case is in one week.

NBC 7's Dave Summers spoke with the victim's father on Monday night who gave this update: “The family is doing ok. We’re grateful to our church and military families. They have been great and showing us a lot of love.”
