East County night traffic court to shutter

East County residents are losing out to the budget woes plaguing local courts.

Officials announced Thursday that the East County Traffic Night Court will be suspended starting on Sept. 16.

The folks who had gone to the El Cajon courthouse from 3:30-6:30 p.m. on the third Wednesday of the month are victims of the monthly closure date selected recently by the California Judicial Council.

β€œSince East County traffic night court operations fall on court closure dates and we have a limited number of people using the service, we feel the suspension is an appropriate way to maximize staff time and budget savings,” Court Executive Officer Michael Roddy said.

Don’t worry – you can still fight a ticket in El Cajon from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on most days.
