“Be the Change” This Earth Day

2009 Eco-Fair at Balboa Park will be huge

Tens of thousands of people are expected in Balboa Park Sunday for the 20th annual EarthFair, touted as one of the world's largest Earth Day environmental celebrations.

This year's EarthFair, which is themed "Be the Change," will feature more than 400 exhibitors promoting various causes, products and services that benefit the environment, according to organizers.

There will also be entertainment, a children's "Earth Parade," art, food and displays of alternative fueled vehicles.

EarthFair, which draws about 70,000 visitors annually, will run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Balboa Park.

Now - more than ever – is the time to galvanize and empower individuals to effect meaningful personal changes toward a sustainable future according to the Earth Day Network which is all about helping individuals take part in creating advances in climate policy.

Organizers encouraged participants to take public transportation to EarthFair. There will also be free shuttles from City College and the County Administration Building.
