Cops: Man In Shed Was Killed

A man found dead in a garden shed was the victim of a homicide, a sheriff's homicide lieutenant told a local paper.

The victim, an unidentified Latino man, was found with an unspecified wound about 8:30 a.m. Tuesday inside the metal shed at the rear of a home at 411 Ponte Ave. in San Marcos, Lt. Dennis Brugos told the North County Times.

Brugos said an autopsy confirmed the man was a homicide victim. The county medical examiner's office, which performed the autopsy, has sealed the results and declined to comment on them.

Brugos also declined to comment on how the man died, explaining he did not want the lone suspect to know what authorities know.

People living in the home along Ponte Avenue, on the far west side of San Marcos just south of Highway 78, told investigators they know the man. They described him as a transient who they allowed to sleep in their shed during bad weather.

Once the body was removed from the shed, a wound was discovered.
