Some generous Black Friday shoppers picked up a little something extra for the Salvation Army Friday. They need help replenishing the toys lost just a few days ago when their downtown facility was flooded.
Nearly half of 30 large boxes filled with donated toys were destroyed. Now, they are relying on the big hearts of San Diegans to fill up those boxes again.
“My grandmother, when she was a little girl, they didn't have anything, they couldn't even go to school because they didn't have shoes and I know the Salvation Army gave her some dolls at Christmas” said Becky Graul as she donated toys. "So I have a very fond feeling toward the Salvation Army.”
The Salvation Army provides toys to 20,000 children on Christmas day.
