An End to the Madness

Gas under $2 in county

Your eyes are not playing tricks on you.  Gas under $2 is back in San Diego County.

Customers were paying $1.99 per gallon for self-serve unleaded on Tuesday at Emerald Oil gas station on the corner of Baltimore and Lake Murray Boulevard in La Mesa.  Gas prices dropped for the 64th consecutive day hitting the lowest price since early January 2006, according to  the Oil Price Information Service.

People at the La Mesa station were excited.  Some needed to fill up when they stumbled on the cheap find and others took advantage of the price by topping off their tank.

One woman said she was excited about the cost because it means in general that people will have more money to spend on other things.

Customers were spreading the good word to each other by text messaging.
