91X DJ/SoundDiego writer Robin Roth is curating this month's event, and she's picked two great local bands to play: Bunny Gang and the Burning of Rome. She had no qualms about choosing the Burning of Rome to headline the June event.

"What's not to love about the Burning Of Rome?" Roth said. "I've been a fan ever since they gave me a copy of their very first demo album five years ago. You never know what to expect when you see them live. That's the beauty of such an unpredictable band. The combination of [Bunny Gang and the Burning of Rome] together will be so much fun."

The Burning of Rome may have the local radio summer hit on their hands -- check it out HERE.

Bunny Gang have just started to melt faces in the San Diego scene. You may recognize frontwoman Megan Liscomb from her other animal-inspired band, Owl Eyes, but her new project is much more volatile. The band may be new, but that didn't stop Roth from taking them under her wing.

"About two months ago I was chatting with Dustin [Lothspeich] from the band Old Tiger about doing a show together," Roth said.  "He told me he had this other project that I might be interested in checking out. They didn't even have a name yet. That's how new it was. Needless to say, I was curious, and he sent me a few songs that they had been working on. I really liked what I heard and we decided to book that band for a show I was doing at the Whistle Stop in May. I had no idea what to expect from their live show since no one had even seen them play before."

It would seem that Roth wasn't disappointed by Bunny Gang's set.

"I fell in love with them...especially lead singer, Megan," Roth continued. "She had such a presence on stage -- a cross between Karen O of Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Kathleen Hanna of Le Tigre/Bikini Kill fame.  Drummer Adam kicked ass and Dustin always plays a mean guitar. Bunny Gang was born."

Bunny Gang's fiery performance in May left an impression on Roth.

"When I was brainstorming about bands to pick for the June SoundDiego LIVE event, they were one of the first to pop into my mind," Roth said. "Not only do I want to see them play again, I want you guys to check the band out."

Kicking off the June 28 show will be the winner of this month's Garage 2 Glory contest, an online battle of the bands between two up-and-coming acts. You may have heard of rocking the vote, but with SoundDiego LIVE events, the vote rocks you back. Voters will automatically be entered to win an Epiphone Les Paul Special II Gibson guitar when they vote for their favorite artist. There's one hitch -- you have to be at SoundDiego LIVE to win the guitar.

With three bands scheduled to play, you won't go hungry for music, but you still might get thirsty. Don't worry though, we've got you covered: Get to the Lafayette Hotel early and you can enjoy a VIP Happy Hour, presented by Jack Daniel's, with free food from the Lafayette and a cocktail from 6:30-7:30 p.m.

On the off-chance you enjoy all that delicious whiskey a little too much, we've got you covered there, too. First of all, the Lafayette Hotel is offering reduced rates for SoundDiego LIVE guests -- just go to the Lafayette's website and reserve a room with the room code "SOUNDDIEGO" -- you'll get a huge discount!

So get on the list now. This is going to be one Thursday night party you don’t want to miss!
