Lady Brain Fest Champions Local Women in Music

Lady Brain Fest -- happening Sunday, July 7, in Encinitas -- promises to be both inclusive and also all-inclusive

This one's a no-brainer: On Sunday, July 7, Lady Brain Fest will host 20 female-fronted musical acts at Heritage Ranch in Encinitas (450 Quail Gardens Drive) from 12-7 p.m. to champion local women in music.

With two stages, poetry readings, art booths, guest performers, vendors and a kid zone, the festival promises to be both inclusive and also all-inclusive.

Full bands, including San Diego Music Award-nominee Tori Roze & the Hot Mess and Becca Jay Band, will take on the Lady Stage, while singer-songwriters, including Jessica Lerner and San Diego Music Award-winner Marie Haddad, fill the Brain Stage.

Put on by Lindsay White, Cathryn Beeks and Listen Local Radio, Lady Brain Fest is going into its first year with an admirable mission statement behind it.

“Our members are all about taking action to create opportunities where they don’t normally exist,” said Lady Brain Presents Founder Lindsay White, who is also a festival co-organizer and a scheduled Lady Stage performer.

“Since male-fronted acts routinely get the lion’s share of festival bookings, we brought forth a festival that challenges those norms while celebrating intersectional Lady Brain talent that is inclusive of a range of ages, cultures, sexualities and music genres,” White added.

Tickets are available for purchase here for $12 or at the door for $15. Admission is free for children 12 years old and under.

“We are so excited to bring the community a multi-stage nonstop music festival featuring a plethora of genres and styles, all coming together to celebrate sisterhood,” Beeks said.
