Tania Luviano Hurwitz is an Emmy Award–winning bilingual journalist and a member of the NBC 7 San Diego Responds and Telemundo 20 Responde team, dedicated consumer unit committed to answering calls and emails from viewers seeking help and accountability.

A five-time Emmy Award winner, Tania is driven by a deep passion for serving the community and amplifying the voices of those who might otherwise go unheard. Her mission is simple yet powerful: change lives through journalism. Time and again, her reporting has made a direct impact — resolving consumer issues, holding institutions accountable, and delivering meaningful results for families across the region.

Recognized as a trusted community leader, Tania is known for storytelling that resonates emotionally while remaining grounded in facts. Whether she is investigating a complex complaint or walking neighborhood streets in search of untold stories, she approaches every assignment with empathy, determination, and integrity.

Raised in Tijuana, Mexico, Tania brings personal insight into the challenges affecting border communities. Her firsthand understanding of the U.S.–Mexico dynamic gives her reporting depth and authenticity, particularly on cross-border issues.

Tania began her journalism career in 2000 with KBNT Noticias 17 Univision, where she worked as a reporter, anchor, and producer. In 2005, she was selected to anchor NBC San Diego’s Spanish-language newscast, Noticias Mi San Diego, and later became the border affairs reporter for Telemundo 52 Los Angeles.

Throughout her career, Tania has interviewed presidents of both Mexico and the United States. Her commitment to uncovering the truth and standing on the front lines of important stories continues to define her work today.
