Police are searching for a man accused of impersonating a police officer by making traffic stops in and around the Chula Vista area.
“Detectives are investigating multiple incidents and believe other victims may exist,” said Capt. Gary Wedge.
The suspect has been identified and his police-style sedan has been impounded, police said. His name is being withheld pending the investigation.
Victims who were stopped or contacted in the South Bay area by man described as 40-45 years old, in uniform or in plain clothes, driving a black and white police style motorcycle or police style vehicle and were not written an official ticket or warning, are asked to call Detective Deaner at 619-409-5852.
The vehicle was equipped with a siren, public address system, and/or emergency lights that were not red or blue, police said.
