Sheen's “Two and a Half Men” Swan Song Scores Mega Views

No less than 28.7 million viewers tuned in to see Charlie Harper’s farewell

It’s been a busy week for the wayward Sheen—what with the Emmys, a Comedy Central roast, and the killing off of his CBS character, Charlie Harper.

But the biggest news doesn’t lie in the exploitive-ridden insults; it lies in the numbers. No less than 28.7 million viewers tuned in to see Charlie Harper’s funeral, and to watch Ashton Kutcher take over for the troubled star.

The staggering viewership was nearly twice the 14.6 million viewers who tuned in for last year’s season premiere, BBC Entertainment reports.

The show hasn’t enjoyed such good ratings since it first aired back in 2003.

Kutcher’s role as an eccentric billionaire has been fairly well received by critics. The Los Angeles Times called his performance “a promising beginning.”

And, as the LA Times critic notes, Kutcher was “naked for much of the show.”
