Bret Michaels: Miley “Nailed” Cover of “Every Rose”

"It's gotta be her taking 'Every Rose' and making it all hers," Michaels said

Miley isn't afraid of a little Poison.

Pop tart Miley Cyrus, 18, may have a reputation for being a mega-watt tween queen but when it comes to covering Poison's classic 80s rock ballad "Every Rose Has Its Thorn" she knows how to rock, according to the band's frontman Bret Michaels.

"[Miley] nailed the song," he told MTV. "She really knew what she was doing. ... She got in there and picked the guitar up. It was one of those nights that just worked. It was fun. It's gotta be her taking 'Every Rose' and making it all hers."

The Disney alum and "Hannah Montana" star whose father is country music great Billy Ray Cyrus said Michaels introduced her to rock and roll at a young age.

"'Every Rose' is a classic and one of my favorites," she wrote on her blog earlier this month. "Bret Michaels and Poison was my very first concert and introduced me to rock and roll."

Michaels stressed that the Miley's cover will reflect her creative tastes though he does plan to sing back-up vocals.

"She's one of the few musicians -- and I want to use that word cause she can actually play and sing -- she's one of the few people who can pull it off and give it her own flare and make it sound good,"  Michaels told MTV.

He added, "I think that's what's going to make the song feel like she owns it. She's got a very contemporary twist on it."
