It is slightly unfortunate that the two alternative stations in town decided to host concerts on the same day, but since FM 94/9's S P F 94/9 at the Oceanside Pier is already sold out, I thought I'd fill you in on X-Fest. The lineup is topped with Jane's Addiction and opens with relative newcomers Walk the Moon but is packed all evening with solid acts. Garbage are enjoying the success of their latest release, Not Your Kind of People, their first album in seven years, while Angels and Airwaves perform their first local show since adding Ilan Rubin on drums. Locals P.O.D. just signed with Razor and Tie, and this show is just a few miles where the guys grew up. The festival promises to be great, and tickets will be available at the gates. The bonus is that if you go to either X-Fest or SPF, you can show your ticket at the Casbah for free entry. Pal & Drome won't hit the stage until around 11, so you'll have time to get there.
