Sounds Like San Diego: Feb. 11

San Diego is abuzz today. We're still seeing beautiful weather in February, we're electing a new mayor for our city, and the music scene really feels like there's some new momentum. Shows continue to sell out our small venues, many far in advance. On Tuesday, we can attribute that to one the best singer/songwriters to emerge from San Diego, Greg Laswell. After leaving town to pursue music and marriage in New York, he returns to the place where it more or less started for him: Lestat's. This show is sold out, and you can bet it's going to be standing room only. Mother Falcon continues their booming residency at Soda Bar, Brandon Boyd of Incubus steps out with Sons of the Sea at the House of Blues, and my favorite Brooklyn space-rockers, Chappo, return to the Casbah. With Royal Teeth and Blondfire opening, this is by far the best top-to-bottom lineup offered in town on Tuesday. You can't be a part of the scene unless you actually support it, so get out to a show!
