It was just a few months ago when the Devil Whale last appeared in San Diego, but they couldn't be back soon enough as far as music lovers are concerned. To say they outshined the bands they were supporting wouldn't be fair, because the other bands on the bill were pretty amazing, but they certainly left an impression with their raucous live show. It reminded me of the time Cold War Kids were an unknown band and were opening for another band, and one by one, people came in off the patio because they knew they were witnessing something really special. Such was the case at the Casbah, and now the Devil Whale will shine as headliners at the Soda Bar.
