What's Your Dance Fetish?

Another fun-filled weekend is upon us, and I’m ready to get my DJ and dance on!

People often ask me what I enjoy more: being on the radio or spinning at a club? I always say "both." Yes, the easy way out. but it’s so true. Each one is completely different: While nothing beats the live energy from the crowd and feeding off of that vibe, interacting on the phone with listeners is a whole other thing. With the addition of social media sites like Twitter and Facebook -- plus e-mail -- it brings in a whole other element. That's why I thrive on doing both: because they complement each other in so many ways. This Friday and Saturday, I’ll be doing a few of my regular monthly appearances, and I’d love for you to join me.

But first, one of my Thursday night picks is Classixx at Voyeur. This DJ duo from Los Angeles has a style all its own, mixing elements of disco, new wave, funk, house and indie. Their remixes for artists include Phoenix, Fischerspooner, Groove Armada, Yacht and Major Lazer. This is the first stop on their North American tour, so don’t miss it. Take a listen here and get ready for the fun. Rounding out the lineup will be a live performance from Hyena, plus an opening set from Brady Spear. Get more details via this link.

Friday night, I’m hosting Pussy Galore’s free monthly event at the Whistle Stop in South Park, where I’ll be spinning everything from indie to electro to ‘80s throughout the night with Jaime Ali. Plus, you can enjoy live performances from the Kabbs and the Touchies. The Kabbs are celebrating the digital release of their new EP, while the Touchies are having a dual CD release party that night. Bring along some extra cash to support these great local bands. For more info go here

On Saturday, I’m DJ'ing at San Diego’s classiest gothic, industrial and fetish event, Club Sabbat. It’s held every second and fifth Saturday of the month at the Flame in Hillcrest. Diskdroid will also be spinning in the front room, and Severin will keep it old school in the back. Plus, Art of the Bizarre with Skellie -- featuring dolls, pendants and painted art -- will be on the back stage for your viewing enjoyment. She’ll have canvas, art and metal for sale, along with live art throughout the night. Check out this link for more details.
