Politically Speaking: Rising Water Rates

San Diego’s City Council has approved a five-year series of water rate hikes amounting a total cost increase of 40 percent. Only one out of six customers needed to nullify the rates filed required protests, and the first increment of the hikes takes effect January 1st. Brent Eidson, the Public Utilities Department’s deputy director for extrernal affairs, and David Garrick, the San Diego Union-Tribune’s City Hall beat reporter, joined NBC 7’s Gene Cubbison to discuss the rising water rates.
