Former Charger Talks Grateful Patient Project

Former Chargers player Rolf Benirschke speaks with NBC 7’s Whitney Southwick about the Grateful Patient Project, which aims to unite thankful patients with the community that cared for them – from their nurses and doctors to their supportive loved ones and the companies who created their life-saving therapies. Benirschke, who survived ulcerative colitis, ostomy surgery and hepatitis C, is calling for Sept. 7 to be “Grateful Patient Day,” a time for patients to reflect on those who’ve helped them pull through the tough times.
