Afghani Children Increase Literacy Levels At Bagram AF

U.S. military personnel continue to provide literacy education to Afghani children at Bagram Air Field. What started as a 40 person class has now grown to more than 120 boys and girls. Most students enter with below a 1st grade reading level and graduate 4 grades higher! In addition to teaching, they’re raising funds so the kids can have school supplies as well as the shoes and coats they’ll need for the cold winter weather. The children are as committed as the volunteers as many of them walk for two hours just to attend the classes. NBC 7 salutes the volunteer teachers who provide this resource.
