The man allegedly brandished a knife in the Alpha Phi sorority house before stealing another student's cell phone

A 26-year-old man has been arrested in connection with an attempted armed robbery at a UCLA sorority house and another robbery on a UCLA student, campus officials said Wednesday.

Roel Tzul, 26, of Panorama City, is being charged with attempted robbery, robbery, and brandishing a weapon, UC Police Department spokeswoman Nancy Greenstein said.

At about 3:20 p.m. Tuesday, the suspect allegedly entered the Alpha Phi sorority house on Hilgard Avenue, brandished a knife and attempted to rob a student. After fleeing the house, Tzul allegedly stole a student’s cellphone near Wilshire Boulevard and Westholme Avenue, Greenstein said.

Within an hour, UCPD and LAPD found the man in Beverly Hills and took him into custody, Greenstein said.
