The Los Angeles Police Department released a new video Friday of a gunfight last month between an officer and a man, both of whom were shot.
Police said they noticed a car because the driver ran a stop sign and sped away. But things escalated after the driver bailed out of the car and ran into a housing complex where another man shot an officer.
The incident happened April 20 after 9 p.m. at East 51st Street and Long Beach Avenue. The video shows the officers chasing the suspect through a housing complex, with families outside.
A surveillance camera shows a second man approach one of the officers and open fire. Both the officer and the suspect were rushed to the hospital and survived. Officers say they recovered a gun from Curley Duff, 39.
Details about his status in custody and his court case were not immediately available.
