A woman and boy were rushed to the hospital after their vehicle crashed in Escondido on the way home from a wedding Saturday night.
The California Highway Patrol says a 31-year-old man was driving east on State Route 78 at an excessive speed around 9:15 p.m.
Trying to pass another vehicle, the driver swerved right too hard and traveled off the road near Interstate 15. The car hit a guardrail and slammed into a metal pole.
The 32-year-old woman and 8-year-old boy inside were taken to the hospital for moderate to major injuries.
According to the CHP, alcohol is a suspected factor in the crash.
No arrests have been made.
