Truck Driver Slams Into Seven Parked Cars in Clairemont Neighborhood

The driver left a trail of damage on a quiet Clairemont Mesa neighborhood. NBC 7’s Audra Stafford has more.

A man was suspected of driving drunk when his truck slammed into seven cars parked along a residential street in Clairemont Thursday, leaving a trail of damage through the neighborhood.

A nearby resident heard loud crashing sounds and called 911 at about 5 a.m. to report the crash on Cowley Way near Waco Street, the San Diego Police Department said. 

At least seven vehicles were hit, SDPD said.

Video of the scene showed heavily dented and crushed cars lining Cowley Way and auto parts were strewn across the roadway.

A silver truck, believed to have caused the crash, could be seen t-boned into a vehicle parked along the shoulder.

It was not clear what caused the driver to lose control but SDPD said they were conducting a drunk driving test.
