Speeding Car Slams Into Traffic Pole, Killing Man

One person was killed and two seriously injured when a speeding car slammed into a traffic pole Saturday in Vista, a sheriff's lieutenant told the North County Times.

A four-door Cadillac Northstar was eastbound on South Santa Fe Avenue just before 5:10 p.m. at roughly 80 mph when, for unknown reasons, it crashed into a steel traffic signal pole at Guajome Street, Lt. Gary Steadman told the paper.

Three men were inside the car. The rear passenger was pronounced dead at the scene, while the driver and front passenger were taken by ambulances to area hospitals, Steadman said.
