Death Toll Nears 200 as Tornadoes Slam South

A violent storm unleashed tornadoes across much of the South Wednesday afternoon and evening, killing at least 196 people, most in Alabama, CNN reported. Officials warned the death toll could mount amid continuing bad weather. One twister estimated at a mile wide ripped though Tuscaloosa, Ala., killing at least 15 people on its path of destruction up through Birmingham suburbs.
