Rollover Crash in Bonita Shuts Down Southbound I-805 Ramp

A driver was ejected from a vehicle and seriously injured in a rollover crash in Bonita Thursday night, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The incident happened at approximately 10:14 p.m. on southbound Interstate 805 near E Street in Bonita.

According to the Chula Vista Police Department (CVPD), the driver of the overturned car ran a red light and slammed into a dark sedan. The two women inside the other car were not injured.

Investigators told NBC 7 that the driver may have gotten into an argument with another women and drove through the red light at a high-rate of speed.

CHP officials said bystanders stopped to help the victims get out of the vehicle.

National City Police initially took over the incident and shut down the southbound I-805 ramp. The investigation was later turned over to CVPD.

The driver was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

CVPD says the crash may be DUI related.
