New Cop Contract Creating Officer Exodus

As of July 1st, the officers’ retiree health care benefits are capped, and the deferred retirement program pays less. Entry into that program moves from age 50 to 55 — the new retirement age for officers hired going forward. Union leaders say a lot of experience will be leaving the force.
