MTS Offers “Friends Ride Free” on Christmas, New Year's Days

MTS will modify its schedule for the Christmas holiday this week

Take the trolley or bus to your destination on Christmas and you can take along a friend for free.

The promotion, offered by the San Diego Metropolitan Transit System, covers Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.

It’s just one of the changes to the public transit system’s schedule San Diegans can expect over the next two weeks.

MTS will modify its schedule for the Christmas holiday this week.

On Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, riders can expect fewer Premium Express buses. However, all Trolley lines and MTS Urban, Express, and local bus routes will operate on a normal weekday schedule.

On Wednesday, MTS buses will run on a Sunday service schedule. The only express route operating will be the Express Route 20. MTS Trolley Lines will operate every 30 minutes.

MTS Access subscriptions are cancelled Monday, Dec. 23 through Wednesday, Dec. 25.

Passengers with subscriptions who require transportation on those days must call two to three days in advance to arrange their trip.

On Christmas and New Year’s Day, any paying passenger can bring one friend along to ride for free.
