Vietnam Veteran Finally Rewarded

This morning in our salute to service we salute Stephen Andrews. While serving in the u-s army during the vietnam war he took a gunshot wound to the leg while conducting a search and destroy mission in april of 1967. The injury shattered his fibula, and he was honorably discharged just a few months later. Andrews’ family recently contacted senator susan collins’ office to see if he could be honored with a purple heart. In a ceremony in Harrison, Maine, Mr. Andrews received that honor. After all these years, his family is relieved to see him get the long overdue distinction.
