MAP: California Wildfires in 2015

It’s challenging to keep up with all the wildfires raging in California.

But Esri, an interactive mapping company based in Redlands, Calif., is doing just that.

The company has created a 2015 California Wildfire Activity web page, culling information from Cal Fire, the US Geological Survey, the National Park Service, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and more, providing live updates about the 20-plus blazes ripping through the state. Most of the information is also being pulled into the National Interagency Fire Center.

Not only does the map show in real time where the fires are, but how much they are costing to put out, how many homes are threatened, how many acres they have charred, what agency is fighting them, when they started and links to the original source of information.

"We just want to inform people what's going on," Esri spokesman Robby Deming said.
