Lawmakers Call for Action on Calif's Unemployment Benefits Backlog

State lawmakers signed a letter to the governor demanding that EDD immediately start paying people who have been waiting for unemployment checks.

Months after the coronavirus pandemic first halted California's economy, leaving millions unemployed, there are still residents who haven’t even received one benefit payment from the Employment Development Department and lawmakers want action.

This week, more than half of the California legislature penned a letter to Gov. Gavin Newsom calling for action. Read the letter below.
