Traffic along southbound Interstate 15 is at a crawl through Escondido because of a multi-car accident that happened earlier this morning.
About six or seven cars were involved in the non-injury collision at 6 a.m. Tuesday just north of Via Rancho Parkway according to the California Highway Patrol.
Officers issued a SigAlert because the crash had one lane blocked.
CHP stopped traffic to move the vehicles involved in the crash from the center divide to the shoulder just after 6 a.m.
By 6:30 a.m., all lanes were reopened but the damage was done. Early morning commuters were caught up in a backlog that stretched beyond Highway 78.
