Saying yes to the dress is never easy, but the decision is going to be easier for military brides to-be at an event to celebrate the troops Monday.
Here Comes the Bride bridal shop is partnering up Brides Across America to offer free dresses to active duty brides or fiancés of servicemen, who may not have the chance to get their own gowns due to deployment, timing and economic circumstances.
“San Diego is a big military town," said Rebecca Martinez, manager of Here Comes the Bride. "We deicided to give back a little to our brides and their fiancés as a thank you to the people who protect our country,”
At the event, which starts at 8 a.m., brides will gain entrance to the showroom where they, and their bridesmaids, can try on one-of-kind couture gowns which they can take home free of charge.
Like any designer event though, there will be crowds, and brides are encouraged to come early.
“We’ve gotten many, many calls,” said Martinez. “We’re anticipating a big crowd and we're letting in five to ten people at a time. There’s a variety of dresses too, different sizes, ball gowns, flare, mermaid and beaded lace.”
The event is being put on in cooperation with Brides Across America, a Massachusetts based charitable organization that focuses on providing free wedding gowns to those military brides that have not been able to have their dream wedding.

The group is said to have donated over 6,000 dresses to brides since 2007.
Donations of new to gently used dresses are welcomed and brides must bring proof of their connection to the military. You can visit the event’s website for more information.
