Fight Over Cats and Dogs Turns Nasty

An irate Ramona resident planted meatballs laced with rat poison in an attempt to poison his neighbor’s dogs, according to deputies.

Gerald Parry, 46, was upset with the management at 121 Ramona Street for telling him he had too many cats in his apartment.

“Parry wanted the complex management to enforce rules on other tenants for having large dogs on the premise,” sheriff's Sgt. Trinidad Tejeda said.

Residents at the complex told deputies that Parry was placing large objects on the dog path of the apartment complex's dog-run area.

Deputies found several large meatballs, which appeared to have been mixed with a solid poisonous substance, according to the sergeant.

Portions of the meatballs were sent to the sheriff's crime lab for analysis.

Deputies did not say if any dogs ate the meatballs.
