Evacuation Ordered After Explosion: Ramona

A two-alarm fire inside a Ramona building was knocked down just before 1 p.m. Saturday, CAL Fire officials are reporting.

Heavy black smoke and flames were reported at 505 Elm Street around 11:54 a.m., officials said.

An initial investigation inside the building did not produce any chemicals, going against earlier reports. However, officials said they are still inspecting the area.

An evacuation of a nearby soccer field and street closures were ordered as a result of the explosion, officials said.

The address was listed as Ramona Mining and Manufacturing, but was also put up for lease in spring 2011, according to Google.
