Man Beaten in Encanto

Family members say the victim suffered a broken jaw and head trauma. NBC 7’s Candice Nguyen reports.

A man was found beaten in a garage Thursday evening in Encanto, the San Diego Police Department(SDPD) confirmed.

The incident happened around 3:09 p.m. on the 200 block of 65th Street near Broadway.

SDPD says a neighbor saw a man, described to be in his 60s, beaten in a garage and went to help.

According to witnesses, they say two people running into a 1980s gray Honda and driving off southbound on 68th Street. There was a third person driving that vehicle.

The victim's son told NBC 7 that his father is quiet and keeps to himself. He says he doesn't know who would do this to him.

His father was taken to the hospital with serious injuries and is now sedated. He suffered a broken jaw and head trauma.

Police are classifying this as an assault and not a home invasion robbery because the motive for the attack is unknown.
