New Donut Bar Location Opens in San Diego County

Customers waited in line for 2 to 3 hours to buy the colorful, fun donuts

When the Donut Bar opened its newest location in Chula Vista, California, people waited for almost three hours to get their favorites.

A new Donut Bar opened Friday in San Diego County, offering the fresh-baked breakfast bites to folks in Chula Vista.

“The community in Eastlake has been begging us to open one out here,” said Santiago Campa, Founder and Chef at Donut Bar.

Customers waited in line for 2 to 3 hours to buy the colorful, fun donuts.

“It’s amazing,” Campa said. “It’s about 400 to 500 people in line.”

The company, which first launched in 2013 in downtown San Diego, is adding several locations throughout the Southwest.

The Chula Vista location held a soft opening earlier this week with its official opening on Friday.

Hours will be weekdays beginning at 8 a.m. and weekends begining at 7 a.m.  The storefront stays open only until supplies run out.

They were hoping to serve 500 people, Campa said.

In 2017, the company tested the waters in the Eastlake area with a surprise pop-up that lasted all of 40 minutes.

People learned about the pop-up through Facebook. The cult favorite doughnut shop opened their original location in downtown San Diego in 2013. Business has been sweet ever since.

Word traveled fast and people left the location with boxes of the treats.

The new location isn't on the company's official website but it can be found in the Village Walk shopping center which includes Sprouts, Trader Joe's and Petco.

Campa said they are also working to open a location in Pacific Beach in the near future.
