The San Diego City Council voted on Monday to give its termed-out council president a position on the Unified Port of San Diego's board.
Voting to give Scott Peters a seat on the port's board were Kevin Faulconer, Toni Atkins*, Brian Maienschein*, Jim Madaffer* and Ben Hueso (an asterisk denotes a termed-out council member).
Councilman Tony Young was quoted earlier this week in the voiceofsandigo.org earlier voicing his opposition.
"I think it's manipulative, I think it's pathetic, and that's the reason I don't think we should do it," Young told Madaffer.
Laurie Black, who already is on the board, got the nod for another four-year term.
