A former bookkeeper for the Girl Scouts will spend a month in jail for stealing thousands of dollars from the organization.
Rancho Santa Fe resident Janet Daily was sentenced Monday to 30 days in jail after she earlier admitted embezzling about $10,000. She owed nearly $6,000 and arrived in court with all but $500. She promised to pay the rest.
The judge sentenced Daily to jail time, saying she needed a punishment that was more than exclusively financial since she abused the trust of an organization that values honesty.
The 36-year old wife and mother of two oversaw bank accounts of troops in Solana Beach and Rancho Santa Fe for seven years.
