Concerns Loom Over SDPD Staffing

The number of police officers in San Diego is lower than it’s been in years, and it’s not expected to get any easier to retain them in the coming years. Currently, there are fewer than 1,700 SDPD officers on the force. To put that in perspective, that’s about half the number of officers in other cities roughly the same size as San Diego. NBC 7’s Greg Bledsoe reports.
