Chargers Offer L.T. a Deal: Report

The San Diego Chargers have presented LaDainian Tomlinson with a restructured contract offer, though it may not be a final one, according to ESPN.

The offer is for less money than the $24 million Tomlinson is scheduled to make by 2011, ESPN reported.

Career lows in rushing yards and carries, a troublesome injury history over the last year and a massive salary cap number have changed how the Chargers view their superstar running back and his future with the team.

As for Tomlinson, who will turn 30 before next season, he has been very open about his desire to stay in San Diego and play for the Chargers.

"I've tried to be the best professional, best player, best person in the community that this organization has ever seen, that's what I've always tried to do and will continue to do because that's who I am," he told SI.com two months ago.

"I think it's ridiculous to be talking about trade and me not being here, that's just my personal opinion. I know every team has a right to make trades and all this stuff, but I just think it's ridiculous to be talking about this, to have this stuff in the media when this could be handled behind closed doors and in a professional way. Now I have people calling me, talking about this all the time; this has become a big story and I don't want this," Tomlinson told SI.com in January.

We contacted the Chargers Monday afternoon and asked for details on reports there was an offer made and were told "no comment."
