Heading to Sunday's Chargers game?
Fans attending the game are asked to bring a non-perishable food item to donate to San Diego families in economic distress for the team's annual food drive. The food will help fill the Jacobs & Cushman San Diego Food Bank's dangerously low food supply.
Food collection bins will be placed around the parking lot when the parking lot gates open at 9 a.m. and entrance gates open at 11:35 a.m., prior to the game against the Kansas City Chiefs. Bright red barrels and Food Bank volunteers will signal drop-off locations.
Canned meats, peanut butter, canned fruits and vegetables, pasta and soup are most-needed items, officials said. If you forget a perishable item but would still like to donate, volunteers will be collecting cash donations at Plaza Level Gates C and F.
If you donate a food item or cash at the game, you will be entered to win a LaDainian Tomlinson autographed football.
VONS supermarkets across San Diego County will be collecting food items for fans that cannot make it to the game but would still like to donate.
