Woman Found Dead on SR-905, CHP Searches for Hit-and-Run Driver

CHP officers found a woman's body approximately a mile or so away from a white pickup truck in the median

A woman who was struck and killed Thursday on a highway just north of the U.S.-Mexico border, has been identified as Angelica M. Borjas.

California Highway Patrol officers are searching for the driver who fled the scene.

The victim, a 42-year-old from San Diego, crashed a vehicle in the center median of eastbound State Route 905, west of Britannia Boulevard at 5:40 a.m., CHP officers said.

When an NBC 7 news crew arrived, a white pickup was facing the wrong way in the eastbound lanes of the highway.

Around the same time, people also called in to CHP reporting a body in the slow lane of 905 EB just before La Media.

CHP officers found a woman's body approximately a mile or so away from the truck.

The woman's wallet found nearby matched the registration on the truck.

CHP officers shut down the freeway west of La Media Road.

After an investigation, the CHP said it appears the woman attempted to cross the eastbound lanes of SR-905 from the center divide to the right shoulder when she was struck by an unknown vehicle.

The CHP is working with other law enforcement agencies in searching for the driver who fled the scene.

No witnesses have come forward. Anyone with information can call San Diego CHP at 619-220-5492.
