Balboa Ave-I-805 Ramps Reopened Following Big Rig Crash

A semi-truck that overturned and blocked roads in both directions near the Balboa Avenue on- and off-ramps on the I-805 is now cleared. NBC 7’s Bridget Naso is in Kearny Mesa with an update.

The California Highway Patrol has lifted closures for Balboa Avenue-Interstate 805 on and off-ramps after an overturned big rig was cleared from the roadway.

The truck, hauling what appeared to be scrap wood, rolled over on the eastbound Balboa Avenue on-ramp to northbound Interstate 805 just before noon.

That on-ramp, as well as the off-ramp from northbound I-805 to eastbound Balboa Avenue, were shut down for more than 5 hours as CHP investigated the crash.

Lanes of the northbound I-805 parallel to the crash were also closed as crews cleaned up debris that spilled from truck's trailer onto the freeway.
