High-profile vehicles traveling east along Interstate 8 are being told to turn around due to high winds and dangerous driving conditions.
Dozens of cars were forced off the highway. Some were told they were too top-heavy to continue.
Mimi Selly said she had already driven 60 miles on a trip to the McCain Valley.
“I don’t know what I’m going to do. I guess I’m going to have to turn around and waste a trip,” she said.
James Reed was driving to Jacumba for a job and understood the need to prevent collisions but thought the closure was inconvenient for cars and other low vehicles.
“I know I could’ve made it out there if I would’ve gone slow, kept the flashers on,” he said.
At 8:15 a.m., a big rig overturned along westbound Interstate 8, blocking all lanes of traffic in Boulevard.
The crash was reported at 8:15 a.m. Wednesday just west of Crestwood Road.
The California Highway Patrol said the crash just west of Crestwood Road was wind related.

Eastbound I-8 traffic was not affected however, CHP officers diverted vehicles off the highway and would not allow high-profile vehicles to continue east.
San Diego County was under a high wind warning through Thursday, 5 p.m.
At the time of the incident, Boulevard was recording sustained winds at 30mph with gusts up to 49 mph, NBC 7 Meteorologist Jodi Kodesh reports.
