Bank Glitch in Mexico Makes it Rain Money

The ATMs released tens of thousands of pesos

A bank glitch caused ATMs in Baja California and Tijuana to shoot money at those lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time.

According to the Secretary of Public Security for Tijuana, the ATM malfunctioned around 12:15 p.m. Sunday.

Witnesses said the ATMs were releasing 500 pesos, or about $30, in large numbers over the weekend.

A 22-year-old man called the police to let them know the ATM was releasing money.

The Tijuana branch of Bancomer bank released 75,000 pesos, or almost $3,900, before the glitch was fixed.
