Aztecs Season Ends With Blowout Loss

SDSU eliminated from NCAA Tournament by Northwestern State

San Diego State’s stay in the NCAA Baseball Tournament was a short one.

After losing to LSU 6-4 in the Corvallis Regional on Friday the Aztecs mustered just three hits in a 9-0 loss to Northwestern State on Saturday. The shutout knocks the Mountain West Conference champs out of the post-season.

Co-MWC Pitcher of the Year Garrett Hill did not have his best stuff. The right-hander gave up four runs on six hits in just 3.0 innings and by the time he left the Demons had all the runs they needed.

The best chance for the Aztecs to score came in the 6th inning when they loaded the bases with one out but Julian Escobedo grounded into an inning-ending double play to end the threat.

The Aztecs finish their season with a 39-21 record.
