Armed Suspect Arrested in Lakeside

Man was reportedly carrying a rifle

A man who reportedly pointed a rifle at people near a Lakeside 7-11 on Friday was arrested, according to the Sheriff's department.

Deputies received reports that a man was pointing a rifle at people near a 7-11 and liquor store in the 11600 block of Riverside Dr. at about 10:22 p.m., a sheriff's dispatcher said.

Officials said the incident started with an altercation between the suspect and a Pepsi worker and then the suspect held the rifle up to the liquor store.

A deputy later spotted the suspect and called additional units to the scene, according to the dispatcher.

The suspect reportedly fled to Palm Row Dr and so deputies brought in K9 units and helicopters to help locate him.

After an hour-long search, the suspect was found hiding next to a middle school football field, in a ravine, deputies said.

The suspect was taken into custody and faces felony charges of threatening a person with a weapon.
