After 52 years at its Embarcadero location, Anthony’s Fish Grotto is closing. Today, January 31st is the last day of business before the restaurant loses its lease. To see the human side of this business decision, Anthony’s CEO Craig Ghio took NBC 7’s Todd Strain into the kitchen with many longtime employees.
Anthony’s Fish Grotto closed its downtown location on Jan. 31, now the iconic seafood restaurant is putting everything up for auction.
According to the auction website, there are 700 lots to bid on: things like deep fryers, refrigerators, and beer kegs. Grotto fans can even own one of the tables or booths.
Bidding is already underway for the restaurant supplies. The auction is online and closes March 7 at 10:00 a.m. People looking to bid on items can preview them March 6, from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
As of 11:00 a.m. Thursday, a majority of the items still did not have bids. Others were at the opening bid price of $1.
The auction closes March 7 at 10:00 a.m.
